According to BGR, the elusive Android 2.2 Froyo update for Sprint’s Samsung Epic 4G is due to drop on February 21st, which matches an earlier rumor that we’ve heard just one week prior. The difference between the two is that BGR’s source claims that the update will be build EB13, and not EA17 like originally thought. As usual, the update will be delivered over the air in a four day span. Listed changes include: improved Bluetooth device support, Bluetooth voice dialing, Flash Player 10.1, GPS enhancements, improved OS performance and ability to install applications to external storage.

Sprint’s Sanyo Zio, a budget-friendly Android smartphone, will also be updated to Froyo on the 21st, according to the same source. The Zio’s update will be build 2.200SP and will feature: the addition of Swype, Sprint Zone 2.5.5, Sprint ID activation improvements and better battery life. Also, users who wish to upgrade will have to accept three separate downloads to finish installation – we suggest going WiFi with this one.

There you have it, Froyo is finally coming! Let’s hope this time it’s true.

I was shocked when my Zio (a second phone I have, other is a EvoShift that came stock with Froyo 2.2) said that the Froyo 2.2 download was ready! I am happy to hear that it supposedly (although I have yet to test this) that app’s can now be stored on the memory card in as much as I had to delete about every program that came stock and that I added as I constantly was running out of memory on my phone. But, I am happy to say that the touchscreen seems more responsive now. The slowness of its responsiveness before the upgrade was a real pain.

Good to hear! It’s always nice when an update actually improves performance…
