We’re well into the third quarter and that only means one thing: Nexus smartphone rumors for Q4 2012. That’s right, it’s that time of year again and this latest rumor actually resuscitates a previous report from May. Back then, we heard Google could be working with multiple manufacturers to release up to five Nexus devices in one calendar year. So far, Google has unleashed the Nexus 7 Jelly Bean tablet and Nexus Q streaming media player. That leaves three devices to go, if there’s any truth to that rumor, of course.
Well, here’s where it gets interesting. A new tip points to a lineup leak for Japanese carrier NTT Docomo in which new Nexus handsets are tied to Sony, Samsung and LG. The models are listed as follows: the Sony Xperia Nexus (SO-04E), Samsung Galaxy Nexus II (SC-02E) and LG Optimus Nexus (L-08E). Of course, all this should be taken with a grain of salt until some more concrete leaks appear, but it’s certainly worth entertaining in the meantime. Although, this particular rumor leaves us with a couple questions. Will we ever see a Nexus phone from HTC again? When will Motorola get its first crack at a Pure Google smartphone?

Thanks, Eric!
