At Microsoft’s annual sales meeting, Steven Sinofsky, President of the Windows division, finally announced the official release date for Windows 8. The latest OS release from Microsoft will arrive via new PCs and software upgrades on October 26, 2012. Customers updating from Windows XP, Vista and 7, will only need to pay an upgrade fee of $40 through the end of January 2013. Although it’s still unclear at this point, I imagine the new Microsoft Surface Tablets and Windows Phone 8 devices will follow soon after the launch of Windows 8, possibly landing in late October or November.
