LG just teased the Optimus Vu Android smartphone. Likely to debut at the 2012 Mobile World Congress, the Vu apparently features a 5-inch XGA IPS (1024×768) display with unusual 4:3 aspect ratio. The display’s unique form factor is accompanied by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm APQ8060 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, NFC, an 8 megapixel camera and it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later).
We suspect this device will go head to head with Samsung’s Galaxy Note (Super Bowl XLVI ad) smartphone-tablet hybrid with some sort of stylus input method available, which would explain the extra wide portrait design. Rumors have previously labeled the teased LG device as the Optimus Note, Optimus Sketch and Prada Note. That’s all we know for now, but we’ll keep an eye on it and report back when we hear more.
