Samsung Dominates Most Viral Tech Ads of 2012 List, Galaxy S III Commercial Takes Top Honors

Samsung dominated Visible Measures’ list of the Top 10 Most Viral Video Tech Ads of 2012 by nabbing four of the ten spots. The Korean manufacturer’s popular Galaxy S III Android smartphone commercial, titled “The Next Big Thing is Already Here,” received top honors with over 71 million views. If you recall, that was one of the numerous Samsung commercials that openly mocked Apple and its iPhone fanboys throughout the year. Samsung also placed third and eighth on the chart for a pair of Galaxy Note II ads, one of them featuring NBA superstar LeBron James. An introductory video for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Android tablet landed in fourth place. I imagine Samsung’s “Work Trip” ad, which encouraged NFC-powered homemade sex tape sharing, would have earned placement as well had it been released a bit earlier. Apple’s iPhone 4S took first place in the most-watched tech ads of 2011, but the iPhone 5 failed to garner the same amount of hype and managed just sixth place on the list for 2012. Ads for the Google Nexus 7 and Microsoft Surface tablets rounded out this year’s results.
