The Sony Xperia Ion is now available, courtesy of AT&T and Best Buy, for just $99.99 or $49.99, respectively, with the usual two-year agreement. The Xperia Ion is Sony’s first 4G LTE smartphone and comes with a 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality display, Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 1.5Ghz dual core processor, 12-megapixel Fast Capture camera with Exmor R sensor (1080p video recording), 1.3MP front-facing camera (720p video capture), 16GB internal storage expandable through microSD, HDMI-out/DLNA functionality, NFC technology for SmartTags, and it’s PlayStation certified. Unfortunately, despite the handset arriving 6 months after it was announced, we’re still looking at Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread out of the box, but an upgrade to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will come in the future.
