Will LG Partner with Google to Launch Optimus Nexus?

LG is apparently negotiating with Google to become the manufacturer behind the fourth Nexus device. Of course, HTC released the Nexus One first, followed by Samsung with the Nexus S and recently launching the Galaxy Nexus, so will LG be next in line with the… Optimus Nexus?

According to Ramchan Woo, chief of LG’s smartphone divison, LG and Google are “heavily in discussions” and they’re “working on it,” although there aren’t any commitments at this point. In an era where Samsung, HTC and Motorola dominate the Android market, Google selecting LG to produce the fourth Nexus would be huge for the Korean manufacturer. It would not only boost LG’s brand from a marketing perspective, but also allow the company to be first on the scene with the next major iteration of Android. We imagine the fourth flagship Google phone would be launched with Android 5.0 Jelly Bean, which is rumored to be optimized for tablets.

Do you think we will see the Optimus Nexus, or whatever LG and Google decide to name it, in late 2012 or early 2013? On the flip-side, will Google ultimately decide to continue with Samsung, go back to HTC, or test new waters with their future partner Motorola?
