The Motorola Droid 4, an Android smartphone with a best in class slide-out QWERTY keyboard, is due to hit Verizon Wireless on February 10th for $199.99 with a new or renewing contract. After introducing the device at CES 2012 in January, Big Red finally made the release details official through a press release today.

The Droid 4 will arrive just a shade under 7 months since the release of its predecessor, the Droid 3. It’s actually the thinnest and most powerful 4G QWERTY smartphone to date, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and measuring in at less than half an inch thick. It also features 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing camera, support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later). It’s actually the first Android smartphone with both a QWERTY keyboard and 4G LTE connectivity. Also worth noting is that the keyboard is edge-lit and has a 5 row design.
