The HTC Thunderbolt, the first 4G LTE smartphone on Verizon Wireless, was released nearly two years ago, yet, here we are in February of 2013 with a significant upgrade for the device. Starting today, Big Red is updating the Thunderbolt from Android 2.3 Gingerbread to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 3.6. The overdue OTA update was originally planned for a Fall 2012 release, so it’s good to see Verizon and HTC follow through on a promise that many probably assumed was broken at one point. Users of the legacy handset, if not already running a custom ICS or Jelly Bean ROM, can expect new features like face unlock, improved notifications, data usage center, customizable launch bar and more. Check out the change log below for more details.
