Verizon Announces the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, MAXX HD and M Android Smartphones (Specs, Images, Videos)

Google, Motorola and Verizon announced the Droid RAZR HD, Droid RAZR Maxx HD and Droid RAZR M smartphones at a press conference in New York City today.

The pair of high-end Android handsets, the Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD, improve upon their original counterparts with a a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor and 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD 720p display which provides 78 percent more pixels. The Droid RAZR HD also delivers 40 percent greater battery capacity at 2,500 mAh compared to the original Droid RAZR. The massive 3,300mAh battery in the Droid RAZR MAXX HD is capable of handling up to 32 hours of normal use, 13 hours of straight video playback, 8 hours of 4G LTE web browsing, or 21 hours of continuous talk time – impressive!

The Droid RAZR M’s claim to fame will be its edge-to-edge 4.3-inch qhd (960×540) Super AMOLED Advanced display and affordable price tag. It’s being marketed as a compact smartphone due to its streamlined design – it’s significantly shorter and narrower than the original Droid RAZR, but still has the same large screen. It also has the same 1.5GHz dual-core processor that’s in the aforementioned models.

To round out the specs for all three devices, we’re looking at 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing camera, microSD card slot, NFC, 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean by the end of 2012.

The Droid RAZR HD will be available in black or white and the Droid RAZR MAXX HD will be released in black just in time for the 2012 holiday season. The Droid RAZR M will be available for pre-order starting today, September 5th, at 5 PM ET on Verizon’s website. It will officially be released online and in stores on September 13th for $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two-year customer agreement. Like the Droid RAZR HD, it will be available in both black and white color options.
