After a recent rumor on Twitter, BGR received confirmation from Sprint that the HTC 7 Pro Windows Phone 7 will be up for pre-order starting November 8. There is one catch though: the offer will only be available to Microsoft employees.
We’ve just confirmed with wireless carrier Sprint that the company will begin taking pre-orders for the HTC 7 Pro Windows Phone 7 device beginning on November 8th. Now, before you get too excited… the offer is for Microsoft employees only. Sprint did not share any additional details about the why the employee program exists, what general consumer availability of the device would be, or device pricing. Sprint’s statement contradicts rumors that have been circulating the web stating that the company would be offering pre-orders of the HTC device to the general public on the 8th.
This news could mean great things for Sprint subscribers, as the CDMA device wasn’t expected until the first half of 2011. The early opportunity to pre-order the device for employees fits nicely with the recent FCC approval of a mystery CDMA Windows Phone 7 device, which is most likely the 7 Pro. With the 7 Pro already making headlines and its surprise appearance at the NYC WP7 launch in October, it wouldn’t be a shock to see it released in early January of next year – which is definitely better than hearing H1 2011. We’re still hoping to see this handset before the year is up though.
