If the affordable Sony Xperia L doesn’t do it for, perhaps you’d be more interested in the mid-range Xperia SP, which was also announced today as a new addition to the 2013 Xperia family.

Designed with a precision crafted co-molded aluminium frame, the Xperia SP features a 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality display with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of flash storage expandable via microSD card slot, an 8 megapixel fast-capture Exmor RS for Mobile camera with HDR for picture and 1080p HD video recording functions, a front-facing VGA camera, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, one-touch mirroring, 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. While these specs may reflect a mid-range device by today’s standards, they were typical for high-end phones this time last year.

The Sony Xperia SP will be available in Black, White-Silver and Red color options when it’s released in Q2 2013. Full specs, images and promo videos after the break.
