Sharp 10.1-inch IGZO High Sensitivity Tablet Display Prototype with Pen Input Hands-On (Video)

This is a first look at the Sharp 10.1-inch IGZO tablet display with ultra high sensitivity for pen input. Although it’s still classified as a prototype, I imagine we’ll be seeing this 10″ screen on select Android and Windows 8 RT/Pro tablets later in 2013. After all, what other capacitive display can recognize such accurate touch input via standard pencil? Huawei’s Ascend Mate and D2 smartphones have a high sensitivity mode that allows touch using regular gloves, but those devices have smaller 6.1-inch and 5-inch displays and it’s unclear how well they work with fine point objects. Along with higher than average sensitivity, IGZO display technology also enables ultra low power consumption, which should extend battery life.
