Samsung likely to showcase Galaxy Note during Super Bowl

Samsung has been busy dishing out Galaxy S II spots during their anti-iPhone ad campaign over the past couple of months. Thanks to the humorously aggressive clips, catchphrases like “We just got Samsunged” and “Dude, you’re a barista” are now synonymous with the Samsung mobile brand. We expected Samsung to air one or two of these ads during Super Bowl XLVI, and while that still may happen, it looks like the Korean manufacturer will focus their efforts on another Android-powered device.

In two successive tweets today, Samsung revealed their plans to market the Galaxy Note to the masses with an extended TV commercial during Super Bowl 46:

We’re telling fans first: Next Sunday we launch a device so revolutionary only an ad in America’s biggest game can do it justice. To make our first ever SB ad as noteworthy as the #GalaxyNote itself, it will be one of the longest in the game. Look for it in Q4!

The 2012 Super Bowl has generated a total of $75 million in commercial advertising through 58 spots for NBC. Each 30 second ad sold for $3.5 million on average, with the highest selling advertisement tallying a whopping $4 million. To put Samsung’s ad into perspective, they claim they will have one of the longest ads shown during Super Bowl Sunday. That’s a lot to spend on a device that doesn’t exactly fit everybody’s needs. After all, the Galaxy Note’s 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display is so large that it can be classified as both a phone and a tablet. In any case, we can’t wait to see what Samsung has in store for their February 5th Super Bowl commercial.

The Galaxy Note will hit AT&T stores on February 19th.
