New rumors have surfaced revealing some of Samsung’s plans for its next generation of Galaxy Android tablets in 2013.
According to a trusted “Korean insider,” the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 are expected to be announced soon, possibly at Mobile World Congress 2013 in late February. The two tablets, currently codenamed SANTOS, reportedly feature a 5 megapixel camera and will be available in 3G/WiFi and WiFi-only versions. Related model numbers include: the GT-P3200, GT-P3210, GT-P5200 and GT-P5210.
The tipster also confirmed specifications for the recently leaked Galaxy Note 8.0 (GT-N5100, GT-N5110), codenamed KONA, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean tablet. We already heard that the S Pen-equipped tablet features an 8-inch 1280×800 Super Clear LCD display, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and a 4600mAh battery – all encased in a 7.95mm thin frame and weighing only 330g. Now, we can add a quad-core 1.6GHz processor to that list of specs.
Lastly, an oddity of the group emerged as well. The Samsung GT-P8200, codenamed ROMA, is said to feature a 5 megapixel camera and 16/32 GB storage configurations. What’s interesting is the tablet’s model number, which is very similar to the Google Nexus 10′s GT-P8110. If the GT-P8200 is related to the Nexus 10, as it could be its successor with an upgraded processor, it probably won’t be announced until Google I/O 2013 in May at the earliest.
All aforementioned tablets are expected in the first half of 2013.
