Specifications for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GT-N5100 and GT-N5110 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean tablets have leaked out. The former will be equipped with both 3G/WiFi capabilities while the latter is set to debut with WiFi-only connectivity, apparently. The two devices should fall in line nicely between the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II smartphone and 10.1-inch Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, as they feature an 8-inch WXGA 1280×800 Super Clear LCD display, 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB storage configurations (expandable via microSD card), a 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and a 4600mAh battery. At just 7.95mm thick and 330g in weight, the Note8 is both thinner and lighter than the 7-inch Google Nexus 7 from Asus, however, it’s slightly heavier and thicker than Apple’s 7.9-inch iPad Mini. The highlighted feature of the Note 8.0 will obviously be the S Pen digital stylus and its integration with accompanying Touchwiz software, like S Note and S Planner.
Unfortunately, it’s still unclear which processor we should expect under the hood. Judging by the mid-range screen resolution, we suspect it won’t be rocking the recently announced Exynos 5 Octa 8-core processor. That leaves the 1.7GHz Exynos 5 Dual that’s in the Nexus 10 or 1.4-1.6GHz Exynos 4 Quad that’s in the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Note II. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is reportedly scheduled to be officially announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2013) in late February.
