The Galaxy Nexus will come preloaded with Ice Cream Sandwich on-board and the Nexus S will get an update to it within a few weeks thereafter. Those two Samsung smartphones are Google-backed Nexus devices though. What about Samsung’s own handsets? Apparently, Samsung Italy has confirmed which high-end devices will get an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012, possibly in Q2. Check out the list below.
Upgradeable to Android 4.0:
- Galaxy S II
- Galaxy Note
- Galaxy Tab 10.1
- Galaxy Tab 8.9
- Galaxy Tab 7.7
- Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
Looks like the original Galaxy S line is out of luck for now, despite having the same specs as the Nexus S, although most probably expected that one. It’s noted that they’re still evaluating older or lower-end handsets, so we’ll be sure to update you if there are any additions to that list in the future.
