Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto III coming to Android, iOS soon

It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since Rockstar Games released the iconic Grand Theft Auto III title into the wild. The GTA series has thrived for not only gamers, but also as a topic of controversy in the media. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of GTA III, Rockstar will be releasing mobile versions of the game for both Android and iOS. That’s right, soon you’ll be able to run around in an open-world, violence-riddled 3D environment on your smartphone.

To commemorate the game’s 10th anniversary, we’re proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto III will be coming to select new generation iOS and Android devices later this fall. For the lineup of devices currently confirmed to be supported at launch, check the list below and stay tuned for more devices to be announced:

Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S
Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

For hardcore fans of the series, Rockstar will also release a special 1:6 scale action figure of GTA3′s Claude in honor of the anniversary. This rare collectible will cost a whopping $149.99. We’ll keep you posted on the Android and iOS versions of the game.
