ZTE will launch some of the first Android “super phones” powered by the new Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core chipset in China before the end of Q2 2013. ZTE EVP and Head of the Terminal Division He Shiyou proudly proclaimed, “this is a clear demonstration of ZTE’s ability to quickly develop, and bring to market, market-leading devices running the industry’s latest technologies.”
Details of the smartphones were not disclosed, but the choice in processor dictates that they will be high-end flagship caliber models. The Tegra 4-powered devices feature a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, 72 Custom GPU cores, and Icera i500 LTE chipset, which will all hopefully translates to a package that delivers power, efficiency and more.
