Along with the flagship Lumia 920, Nokia also announced the mid-range Lumia 820 Windows Phone 8 smartphone. While it’s not quite as impressive as the 920, the 820 does offer some versatile and powerful features for a mid-tier handset. A stand-out feature of the device is the exchangeable shell design. The backing of the handset can be swapped out for protective shells of varying colors, some of which have a wireless charging capability. It also sports a 4.3-inch OLED WVGA (800×480) ClearBlack display with super sensitive touch for nail & glove use, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage (expandable via microSD), an 8 megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, a front-facing VGA camera, NFC support, pentaband LTE / HSPA+ connectivity, and a 1650 mAh battery.
The Nokia Lumia 820 will be available later this year in red, yellow, grey, cyan, purple, white and black. Pricing has yet to be determined. A variety of innovative accessories will be launched with the Lumia 820 as well, including the Fatboy Recharge Pillow, JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker, JBL PowerUp Wireless Charging Speaker, Nokia wireless charging plate, Nokia wireless charging stand, Nokia Luna Bluetooth Headset and Nokia Purity Pro Stereo Headset by Monster.
