Although Sony recently upgraded the complete 2011 Xperia smartphone line to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it seems they will not be treated to the newest 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The news comes from Sony Mobile’s Facebook page, where UK product manager John Cooper revealed that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S and Xperia Mini Pro will not get the aforementioned upgrade. Since the Arc S was the flagship model of the 2011 line, it’s safe to assume none of the handsets from last year will get the update. Along with the Arc S, these devices include: the Xperia PLAY, Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia Neo V, Xperia Ray, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. That being said, we’ll stay on top of the story and report back if anything changes.
The Xperia Ion, Xperia S and the rest of 2012 Xperia line will likely get Jelly Bean, but the timeline for such a release is unclear at this point.
