The new HTC One Android smartphone has officially been announced and unveiled for the world to drool over. The feature-packed handset rocks a 4.7-inch 1080p FHD Super LCD 3 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, a 4 megapixel UltraPixel rear camera, 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera with 88-degree wide angle lens and HDR capability, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, a 2,300mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity, and dual front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers. All that in a 9.3mm thick aluminum unibody design that weighs just 143g. Of course, that means the battery is non-removable and there’s an unfortunate lack of expandable storage. As for software, it’s running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5 and a bevy of other software enhancements, like HTC Zoe and HTC BlinkFeed.

The HTC One’s UltraPixel, super-sensitive camera captures 300% more light, which promises more clarity, contrast and detail. HTC Zoe allows users to shoot up to 20 high-res photos that also come to life in three-second video snippets, which are then used to automatically display video highlight thumbnails in the image gallery. HTC BlinkFeed brings your homescreen to life with the latest updates on your friends, photos, social networks, calendar events, sports teams, music, news, feeds and more. The HTC One can also control your television with the Sense TV feature – select TV channels, access program guides, adjust audio, find your favorite shows and get notified when they’re on.

The HTC One will be available globally through more than 185 mobile operators and major retailers in more than 80 regions and countries starting in March 2013. In the U.S., look for the One on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile later this year. Unfortunately, there’s no word on Verizon Wireless at this point, but we imagine a variant will be available later on, perhaps the Droid DNA 2? Consumers in Canada can expect it on Rogers, Bell, Virgin Mobile and Telus. It will likely be released overseas first on providers like O2, EE (Orange, T-Mobile UK) and Vodafone. Judging by the presser, it will come in three color options: grey/silver, black and red, likely dependent on location and carrier.
