While unveiling Windows Phone 8 features today, Microsoft also revealed unfortunate news for early adopters. As you may already know, there is no upgrade path to Windows Phone 8 for current Windows Phone 7.x devices. However, an update to Windows Phone 7.8 will still bring the awesomely redesigned Start Screen to legacy handsets. The new Start Screen allows users to personalize and customize their go to screen more than ever with adjustable tiles (three sizes) and more colors. Sure, your current phone may not be able to support the robust features of WP8, but at least you can make it look similar from afar. The Windows Phone 7.8 update will be released for Windows Phone 7.5 devices sometime after the launch of Windows Phone 8 this fall.
