LG is known to jump the gun prior to major wireless conventions and they just did it again ahead of Mobile World Congress 2013. In Seoul, South Korea, LG introduced the new Optimus L Series II, which includes three new Android smartphones created under the following design principles: Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting on the home button.

The Optimus L7 II features a Qualcomm MSM8225 1GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch WVGA IPS display, 4GB of internal storage + microSD card expansion, 768MB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 2460mAh battery and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Optimus L5 II sports a slightly smaller 4-inch WVGA display and 1,700mAh battery while the Optimus L3 II is equipped with an even smaller 3.2-inch QVGA display and 1,540mAh battery. The L7 II will be released in Dual SIM flavor beginning this week in Russia; its siblings will be detailed and released at a later date yet to be determined.

Clearly, these are part of LG’s low to mid-level lineup, just like the original L series, so a flagship caliber device is likely still in the company’s plans for a MWC 2013 unveiling near the end of February. Unfortunately, the handset-maker didn’t reveal any information on a possible Optimus L9 successor, but most are expecting an upgraded Optimus G Pro with 5.5-inch 1080p FHD display and 3,140mAh battery to debut in Barcelona later this month.
