Motorola’s last Droid smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard was the Droid 4 released back in February of 2012. According to several newly leaked photos, it appears Moto’s slider line is still alive and well with what’s being called the Droid 5.
The images, posted on the Sina Weibo Chinese social media network, display a familiar looking slider form factor with laser-cut 5-row QWERTY keyboard as well as some intriguing new features, such as virtual rather than capacitive buttons, wireless charging capabilities, NFC and a “shockproof” water/dust-resistant body. Of course, the device will naturally support Verizon’s 4G LTE network and the screen looks to be in the 4.3 to 4.5-inch range. No other details were revealed.
