Huawei made a big splash at CES 2013 with three impressive smartphones: the Ascend Mate, Ascend D2 and Ascend W1. The former are Android smartphones while the latter is a Windows Phone 8 equiped handset. In the video demo above, we go hands on with the Ascend Mate, which is a 6.1-inch screened Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered phablet (phone + tablet hybrid) that rocks a Hi-Silicon quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 4050mAh battery, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1 MP front-facing camera. It all fits in a 9.9mm thick body that weighs 198g. Also, it can be used with standard gloves which is unusual for devices with capacitive glass displays, as they typically need specially-made gloves, like Agloves for instance, to respond to touch.
