HTC One (M7) Android Smartphone Press Image Leak: White, Dual Front-Facing Speakers and Sense 5.0

The HTC One, known previously as the M7, is expected to be announced at a media event on February 19 before ultimately being released on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and maybe T-Mobile. We’ve already heard numerous rumors about its specs, launch details and even saw some photos of the device in the wild… or so we thought. A new image leak contrasts with what we saw earlier. Could this new press shot be of the actual HTC One Android smartphone?

The press image comes by way of serial leakster evleaks, so it’s difficult to dismiss it as a fake when the source has been accurate on so many occasions. It shows a white Android smartphone with capacitive touch buttons, front-facing speakers along the top/bottom, and the redesigned Sense 5.0 user interface. Also, notice that there’s no multitasking button, which we assume means the user would have to access that function by long-pressing the home button. The tipster actually posted a similar image last month, but without the screenshot of Sense 5 attached and that particular rendering hinted at onscreen buttons. If you recall, HTC CEO Peter Chou was recently caught on film leading an “M7″ chant while showing off the back-end of a white phone at a company party.

The other images we’ve seen revealed a black colored handset that looked similar to the HTC Droid DNA and Butterfly. Did HTC apply a bit of misdirection via controlled leak? If so, it worked for a while as most in the industry believed the black variant with the more traditional design was the actual device. Another possibility could be that the darker device is actually the rumored HTC M4.

All should be clear in eight days when HTC officially announces the HTC One.
