Google may unveil the Moto X Android smartphone at a two-day press event next week, according to tech podcaster and journalist Leo Laporte. Motorola’s Guy Kawasaki invited 50 members of the press to attend the special event at Google’s headquarters from July 10th to the 11th. Laporte believes the Moto X phone will be shown off since Kawasaki doesn’t exactly “”do these things at all,” though he admits there’s an outside chance that it could all be for something “silly.”
The expectation that the Moto X will be in attendance is only fueled by a recent advertisement for the mid-range Android smartphone. As you can see in the image above, the people diving off the dock form the roman numberals “X” and “I” – together they form the number 11, which lines up with Google and Motorola’s mini-press event next week. Motorola already announced the device would be available to consumers by Summer and analysts speculated it would arrive sometime in August. If an August release date for the Moto X turns out to be true, it’s only natural for Motorola to announce it in July.
