Google Maps has been updated to version 6.5. The latest update delivers better support for smartphones with high pixel density displays (Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II, Droid RAZR, etc), a faster map style, and a redesigned home screen for Android 4.0+ devices.

A crisper, less cluttered map that is easier to read

Previous Style (Left) vs New Style (Right)

According to Google, the new style that’s optimized for high resolution displays makes the road network easier to see, is less obstructed by labels, and offers more color contrast. Furthermore, there is less cluttering at zoomed-in levels and the new style is said to help maps react faster to panning, zooming, and twisting.
