Google Cancels October 29 Android Event Due to Hurricane Sandy, Nexus 10 Tablet Appears in Brief Video

Google’s upcoming Nexus-themed Android event, originally scheduled to take place in New York City on October 29 at 9AM ET, has apparently been postponed due to the perfect storm currently brewing in the Atlantic Ocean.

Google:
“We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more”

The search giant was expected to unveil the Nexus 4 smartphone by LG and Nexus 10 tablet by Samsung, both of which should be running Android 4.2, but it looks like the press conference will need to be rescheduled. That’s unfortunate news, as the event has been billed as Google’s response to Apple’s iPad mini/4 launch and Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 event (also on October 29, but in San Francisco). However, there is a bit of good news for Android fans as a short video of the Nexus 10 has been leaked. It’s only five seconds long, but you can view it below.

The Nexus 10 reportedly sports a 10-inch Super AMOLED display with 2560×1600 resolution and 298.9 pixel density (iPad 4 is 2048×1536 with 264ppi), 1.7GHz Exynos 5250 dual-core Cortex-A15 processor with Mali-T604 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (higher capacity option may be available, though no microSD card slot), 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, front-facing camera, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, dual front-facing speakers, and Android 4.2
