Free Lightsaber Apps for Android: Lightsword & The Schwartz Unsheathed (Video)

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you have to admit it would be cool to wield a lightsaber. Well, there are two free Android apps in the Market that let you role play as Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. “Lightsword” and “The Schwartz Unsheathed” (Space Balls reference?) bring you this ability by using your device’s built-in accelerometer. So, when you swing your phone, the virtual lightsaber will emit relevant noises. If you swing hard enough, like you’re striking something, it will sound like you’re making contact. There are also touch features to turn the saber on or off. Check out our video demo below of both apps, then head to the Market to get your Star Wars on.

Note: there is also a $2.99 Pro version of Lightsword on SlideME. It removes the ads, includes more sounds and offers color options. The one in the video is the free, ad-supported version.
