Six months after it was announced, AT&T is finally ready to launch the Sony Xperia Ion Android smartphone. It will be available on June 24 for just $99.99 with a new or renewing two-year agreement. The Xperia Ion is Sony’s first 4G LTE smartphone and comes with a 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality display, Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 1.5Ghz dual core processor, 12-megapixel Fast Capture camera with Exmor R sensor (1080p video capture), 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera (720p video capture), 16GB internal storage expandable with microSD, HDMI-out/DLNA functionality, and Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread (upgrade to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later). It’s also PlayStation certified and supports NFC-powered SmartTags.
