Asus MWC 2013 Teaser II for New FonePad (Video)

Asus is planning to bring Pad and Phone together at MWC 2013 in Spain on February 25th. The first “Ultimate Craftsmanship” teaser for the imminent announcement looked more like a scene out of a Sci-Fi flick than anything else, but this new clip steers us back into the mobile space.

The video, titled “A New Discovery at Hand,” starts out with a tourist taking in the sights near the 60m tall Columbus Monument in Barcelona. He then points out the Christopher Columbus statue at the very top, paying special attention to the tablet in his hand. Then, Columbus surprisingly comes to life and takes a phone call before ultimately returning to his usual pose. We imagine this is a teaser for the unannounced FonePad, not to be confused with the well-known PadFone. The FonePad is rumored to sport a 7-inch 1280×800 IPS display, Intel Atom Z2420 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3G component for making voice calls – thus the FonePad moniker.
