angry birds two year birthday
Has it been two years already? Apparently so, as Rovio Mobile is celebrating Angry Birds’ second birthday with an update for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad). The latest version of Angry Birds brings 15 new birthday cake levels (300 total levels), the orange bird, new menus/graphics, and birthday achievements. Also, Rovio decided to unlock all episodes for their fans in celebration of the hit game’s birthday. Head to the Android Market or iTunes to get the update for your device.

Angry Birds 2.0.2 Changelog:
- Happy 2nd Birthday, Angry Birds!
- Satisfy your sweet tooth with 15 brand new birthday cake levels!
- Celebrate 300 LEVELS of Angry Birds!
- Party with the amazing expandable orange bird!
- Check out the spiffy new menus and graphics!
- Special birthday achievements make this update a treat!
- As a birthday gift to our fans, all episodes are now unlocked!

Update: turns out the birthday cake update was released in December, but Rovio failed to announce it and/or update their changelog. The 2.0.2 update is actually a minor bux fix update. Still, there are many casual Angry Birds players that had no idea levels were added, so this news could still be useful to them. Thanks to Alvin in the comments for pointing this out!

They screwed up and there are no new levels… .still 285 levels, counting the 15 birthday levels from LAST YEAR. The update says there should be 15 more and a total of 300.

    There are no new levels.

The “new” levels were actually released around Christmas, so everyone already has them and thus got nothing new today.

Turns out Rovio simply didn’t bother to update the What’s New section from their last release. There were no new levels, it was a minor bugfix update. Rovio should make an apology for the tens of thousands of Android users (millions?) who were duped into thinking they were getting new levels because someone at Rovio was too lazy to update the What’s New box.

Wow, that’s unlike them to miss announcing it. I guess that would explain why they’ve kept quiet on Twitter since all the blogs were posting about it. Thanks for the clarification! Will make a note of it in the post.
